Before joining the ChIR program you must be aware of the costs involved. These include not only the program fees but also the costs of living and traveling in Europe.
Program fees cover:
As a self-funded student you will, upon admission to the programme, receive an invitation to pay the first part of the program fees. Once the payment is received, your place in the program is secured.
The full program fee must be paid before September of the first academic year. Students who haven't paid within the mentioned time frames cannot participate and will be considered as dropouts.
Self-funded students may choose to pay the program fees in four instalments, paid before the start of each semester
All students organize and finance their own accommodation, living, visa and travel costs.
The cost of living differs from country to country. Please check the page of each partner university for more information.
Please ensure that you take into account all the traveling and the living costs that the program entails. Remember, it's an International Master and there is a lot of travelling involved. Make sure to make a good budget before starting.
You may use the following tool to compare living costs in the cities of the consortium (which will be mainly Bologna in Italy, Barcelona,Spain and Faro, Portugal) with the living costs in your home place. The tool also helps you think through the following issues: relocating with or without a partner, with or without kids, commuting issues etc.
Important notice:
While the ChIR has been funded by the European Commission through the Erasmus+ Programme since 2013 to 2024, this funding will not be available for the 2025-2027 cohort.
Instead, the ChIR consortium will fund a limited number of scholarships valued at €4500 per year. This will cover the totality of programme fees of Programme Country students and 50% of programme fees of Partner Country students.
ChIR consortium studentships will be awarded to the top ranked students.
Please be aware that, if selected, you will be responsible for all other living and study expenses in Europe from sources other than Erasmus Mundus.
